Overview
For Rasa Raya 2026, the goal was to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri through a design that honors cultural heritage while connecting with modern audiences. The concept, “Threads That Lead Us Home”, interprets the journey of returning home (balik kampung) as a woven path of Songket-inspired motifs, blending tradition with contemporary visual storytelling.
Research & Insight
We began by studying Songket floral motifs and their symbolic meanings:
Bunga Pecah Empat → Stability at the heart of the home
Bunga Pecah Lapan → Blessings in every direction, completeness
Pucuk Rebung → Growth and life’s journey
Bunga Tanjung → Elegance, gentleness, inner beauty
Understanding these motifs allowed us to translate symbolic meaning into spatial and visual design, ensuring the installation communicated both emotion and cultural narrative.

Concept & Design Approach
Pixel-inspired Motifs: Traditional Songket patterns were deconstructed into pixel forms, creating a modern reinterpretation while preserving cultural symbolism.
Journey Home Narrative: The path home was represented by a car icon moving toward a house (🚗 → 🏡), with dotted lines acting as “threads” connecting journeys and memories.
Spatial Storytelling: A dedicated bookcase area displayed the history and symbolism of each motif, allowing visitors to engage with the story behind the design.
Experience Design: Warm, festive colors (greens, yellows, golds) tied the visual identity to the Raya celebration, creating an inviting atmosphere for exploration, reflection, and photography.
